Mike Richardson Sportsmanship Award Winners
Given annually to the Hingham Youth Hockey Players who best exemplify the attributes of character, integrity, sportsmanship and hard work.
Each travel team nominates one player. The final selection is made by members of the HYH board in conjunction with Mike Richardson. One award is given for each level of the travel program... Mite, Squirt, Peewee & Bantam.
Below are the characteristics for a winning candidate:
TEAM FOCUS - This player should be unselfish and committed to the team over individual performance. He or she should be willing to help out in any way that benefits the team and its members.
ATTITUDE - This player should display a positive attitude.
ROLE MODEL - This player should be a positive role model for players on the team
SPORTSMANSHIP - This player should display good sportsmanship and respect to officials and opposing teams, even in the face of adverse outcomes. Likewise, the player should demonstrate cooperation and respect in dealing with his or her coaches and teammates.
INTEGRITY - This player should be committed to doing what’s right.
WORK ETHIC - This player is one that shows up every day and plays their hardest, regardless of skill level or adversity.
