Program Offering
Cross-Ice: 6 and Under
Overview
Cross-ice is designed to be a fun entry point for young kids to learn hockey. Most kids are between the ages of 5-6 and in Kindergarten or First Grade. At the first practice, they should be able to stand on the ice comfortably by themselves and skatedown the length of the ice at least once by themselves. While we love to teach kids how to skate, having some sort of foundation is important for your child as they get out there. If you need a program to have your player learn how to skate, we have friends at these partner programs that specialize in giving them a skating foundation.
Players in Cross-Ice will be placed onto a team based on their age with 2-4 assigned coaches. Teams typically have 8-10 kids and all kids follow the schedule below.

Mite House: 8 and Under
Overview
Hingham Youth Hockey views Mite-House as one of the most fun years. This level is designed for players ages 7-8. It's similar to Cross-Ice where we focus on skills in small groups, but an increased emphasis on games and competition within the Hingham Youth Hockey program. In this year, families will not travel to other towns to play, but all games will be held in Hingham at Pilgrim, Rink B - Middle. Considering Hingham has one of the strongest programs on the South Shore, the competition stays high!
To make it even more fun, we split the players into 4 even teams, Crimson, Eagles, Huskies and Terriers. These are the four powerhouse Division I college teams in Boston. At the end of each season, we host the "Beanpot", where the four HYH teams battle each other.
